Hotel in Panarea

Raya is a small hotel, highly prized by selected visitors, which has attained the accolade as the best hotel in the Mediterranean. For many it has reached a cult status, and for those who love nature and tranquillity it is an ideal place to meditate and to refind one's soul.

History

One day, the Tilche Beltrami family were sailing in the open sea off the coast of Panarea, on their boat Santuccello, the swan song of a famous carpenter from Palermo. Alessandro Tilche dived into the shallow waters and surfaced with a plump ray in his hands. As Paolo and Myriam were musing over how to cook it, Alessandro swam off with his catch.
They watched him beneath the waves through the glass of the boat, as he snuggled up lovingly to the ray and took care of it. A few moments later, out popped 14 little baby rays. There was even a photo of the happy event, which has now been lost…..
